How’d I Miss That?

Gas Pump Confessions, Drive-Thru Obsessions, and Figuring Out What Really Matters

In How’d I Miss That? popular podcaster Cynthia Yanof shares the lighthearted, awkward, and occasional should-she-be-telling-us-this? moments that prove life is more than professional ladders, night sweats, and frantically searching for your phone. (Hint: It’s in your hand.) Turns out, the seemingly small things―like availability and generosity, friendship and forgiveness―aren’t so small after all.

So grab a Diet Coke and pull up a chair for some laugh-out-loud moments as Cynthia shares:

  • Biblical assurances that’s it’s not just the “big” moments God uses to bring light into our homes, our workplaces, and our communities
  • Inspiration for living each day with grace and forgiveness―for others and ourselves
  • Funny and heartfelt examples of finding ordinary ways to live out extraordinary faith
  • Comical reminders that some of the holiest moments happen with spinach in our teeth and our shirt tucked into our Spanx
  • For every woman who thought she’d change the world but now mostly changes the toilet paper roll (again), How’d I Miss That? reminds us that tiny acts of faith, sown daily, grow into something beautiful for God.

Life Is Messy, God Is Good

Sanity for the Chaos of Everyday Life

Cynthia Yanof knows how sloppy, slippery, and downright hard life can be. But as she reminds us through her laugh-out-loud stories and heartfelt companionship, God’s not surprised when we drop the ball, lose our cool, or struggle to put our Spanx on in the morning. He can use our ridiculous messes and even the really difficult I-didn’t-sign-up-for-this losses to shape us.

In Life Is Messy, God Is Good, Cynthia invites us to reframe our perspective on the challenges we face so we can see God at work—and laugh more along the way. Join her in discovering how:

  • We can be faithful to God’s purposes right where we are—baseball carpool, dog groomer, and even chaperoning the dreaded zoo field trip.
  • We come to realize one of life’s greatest blessings is a handful of crazy, godly friends (who aren’t afraid to tell you to retire your outfit).
  • When we let go of who the world says we should be, we are free to become who God created us to be.

Whether you are navigating a difficult new season, working late on another deadline, or simply horrified that your morning routine now includes plucking chin hair, Life Is Messy, God Is Good offers an encouraging and hilarious reminder that God is at work in you—even in the mess.

Laughing and Loving Jesus!

This book is a must have for anyone that likes to laugh while embracing Biblical truth! I laughed. I cried (mainly because I laughed so hard), and I felt the love of Jesus pour through each page. This is a wittingly creative book that reminds you that no matter what your mess looks like God is right there in the trenches with you. It is completely necessary to laugh and this book will give you the healing laughter you need! Cynthia is transparent about her life and faith.

I have already purchased this book for a friend and shared it with several other friends! “Life is Messy God is Good” is blessing to every woman who has ever laid down her head at the end of the day and thought to herself “thank you God for letting me survive today!” Can’t wait to read Cynthia’s next book!

Best book I’ve read in a long time

I’m looking for a new book for myself and my Bible study girlies so i snagged this one because the title felt so relatable. The introduction had me laughing literally out loud and before i knew it i was 4 chapters deep. This book will challenge you, make you laugh and also make you feel so seen. Thank you Cynthia for being so real and authentic. Your personality jumps off of the pages and makes me feel like you’re in my living room having a convo with me in real life! Everyone needs this book! 10/10!

Hilarious and Encouraging

I absolutely loved this book – I found myself laughing at Cynthia’s stories on the Don’t Mom Alone podcast summer series and was hoping her book would be more of the same. It definitely was! She is such a great story teller and I appreciated the wit mixed in with God’s truths. I also really enjoyed the short chapters so this mama of littles could feel like I got some serious reading done in the (too short) nap breaks. Highly recommend!
